I've never been to a funeral before. When I was younger my mother didn't take me to any, she thought I couldn't handle it. She was probably right ( Read more... )

Don't even worry about it. I mean, yeah, this comment is too late, but death is just death. Shit, at funerals I never worry- I got no hang ups about kissing a corpse either. We all die- if you don't feel anything, don't let people guilt you in to it. You'll be sad if and when you want.
The last funeral I was at, I wrote the eulogy, and I never cried- I didn't feel bad. Acceptance stops you from feeling sorry for yourself and crying.

Dad says never go to a funeral of someone you can't mourn for, because if something that's funny to you happens, you can't not laugh. That's the worst time EVER to laugh, btw...

My grandmothers funeral was the first I really went to; the other being a wake of someone I didn't really know. It wasn't easy by far. Don't worry about how you should feel. There isn't really a right or wrong to it. And since I read your other entry before this one, the other one now makes more sense. Graveyards are awful at the time of a funeral. We forget then that it is a place of rest. Again the stand to talk still stands.
