Now, see I enjoyed the sparkling bit. It was a nice deviation from the normal 'burst into flames' bit. I enjoyed her description of it, it seemed like a beautiful sight to behold - have you not read Lestat or Queen of the Damned where the first vamps had taken on a hardened marbleish exterior? I felt that this author of Twilight was playing with that notion.
Also, you should not read a chapter in the middle of a book, bitch. You start at the beginning and put up w/ all the bullocks of it, damnit.
Also, also, the book read like fanfic, it totally did - but it's far better than a lot of the complete shite that are best sellers in the vampire-fiction genre. The author didn't sensationalize the vampires, or try to make them more than they are and I appreciated that.
The film looks like it might be shite - but it's got come great actors in it. *nods*
I got put off the Anne Rice books from watching Interview with the Vampire. Which well... eugh. Anyways. Maybe thats the problem, the book reads too much like a fanfiction. Like she watched Interview with a Vampire one too many times and decided to write her own soppy piece.
If you let a movie dictate whether or not you read a book... you're a bitch. ;)
The Interview movie blew fucking huge nasty puss covered balls. I absolutely hate that fuckin' movie. But the book, oh the book was great, so much better - its hard to believe that they're supposed to be the same.
That much is true. Invariably the books are always better than the movies.
The novel Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton, was just simply far superior. And the LotRo books are better than the films and etc etc. So maybe the Anne Rice novel is better yet the film itself tainted it too much. Maybe I shall read it some day.
And the chapter I read was the first chapter of the new book, "New Moon".
