Lightning's Magicite disappeared in a second. Almost immediately, she jumped to her feet with Blazefire Saber already in hand. The tip of the blade was already extended. The voice that tore through her musings, she couldn't ever forget that voice. Even if it wasn't the enemy she fought back then, she still remembered it. Hard not to when all her enemies, all of Chaos Warriors, taunted her and her allies over the futility of their mission.

The Emperor. That was who it was. Yuna's opponent while Lightning took down Garland, not that it did any good. Garland was still alive and by Cosmos, somehow he summoned her to his side. To fight for Chaos, this time.

How, why? Lightning had no idea, couldn't figure it out. Just like how she couldn't figure out why the hell she had a black crystal rose in her hand only moments before and not something that should have been pink and bright ( ... )

His grip tightened upon his stave as she drew her blade, eyes narrowing with icy malice which could make Winter herself bristle. Yet gestures such as that would be as ineffective against this woman. The emperor instead loosened his grip upon the stave; shaking his head and finally seeing the funny side of this.

"The gods toy with you, do they not? To see you called for this purpose..."

The cruelty of it was hilarious. Even he could see that.

"Like you really know what purpose I'm here for," bitter anger filled her voice. He couldn't know why she was brought to their side. Hell, she didn't even know. Garland, if that guy was really the man she fought before she closed the portal with the others, mentioned only about chains binding her here and destroying the world.

Destroy the world. The irony didn't escape her. It was almost as if she was another plaything for some game among gods. Not she liked it one bit, not then and definitely not now.

Toy with her? No way, not again. Never again. Her memories from her home world were finally in her reach. She could almost remember every single thing from her original world: the Fal'Cie, the mark on her chest (brand), her focus and most of all Serah. She remembered her sister, her friends from Cocoon and even the two who came from Pulse.

"Most likely the same purpose as all of us. To perform a service; break this prison and return to the realities we should have been promised from birth -- our responsibilities , our aims, and our ideals as just reward. If he mentioned anything else to you, I care not. Such details fall into complete irrelevance."

He kept his eyes upon the slip of a girl, finally loosening the grip upon his stave. His eyes remained burning though; with some far, distant, utterly profound hatred of all that displayed any human traits. She was not the only one that recalled her world, after all. Even were it not for her act within the Empyreal Paradox throughout one of the earlier cycles, his hatred of her would not have been any less. Yet his words were calm; clear ( ... )
