Who here thinks that DeviantArt is digging themselves their own grave cause of their new critique thing?

I havent heard much complaints, but they should have some sort of "Disable critique option" button.

I personally think it's a bad idea....

Really? I haven't been on the site for a long time but was browing through my backlog today.. I think it's a nice addition, there is always the neutral "doesn't care" option which seems as close to disabling it as anything. I dunno?

I haven't really paid much attention to that new featurette. I mean yeah I did notice the speech bubbles above the comment box, and I saw one with an X in it. Just for the sake of enlightenment ( and I just woke up too ) why do you think it may pay for DA's ticket for the hell train?

mostly cause there are the same folks who ask for a crit and when they get one they get all pissed off and junk. Also some people dont want crits at all and when they say no crits they think it makes them seem arrogant. I've seen a lot of this in the past in the anime (human) art community. And then there's the other groups on DA, like the 3D artists. I havent met one yet that wasn't egotistical about their work.

It's just a pain. And I know it ticks off the people trying to give helpful crits and the artist gets pissed and dosent want them even though it says "Crits welcome" or whatever on the pic's message.

You're art is up pubically. You have no say if you want a critique or not. That's the breaks. If you don't want a critique. Then don't post crap on a public archive. Simple as that.

You can't have the cake and eat it too.

yeah, that's why I like YNA. The last time I was there the artists were making good comments rather tnan "the arm looks wierd" and not having a way to say how it's suposed to look like.

I've been wanting to apply there for a while, but I dont think they're taking applications...
