For the past month, me and Jennifer have been on a rocky road. I just recently moved to Charleston, SC but I was originally suppose to move up to Queens,NY. Due to certain circumstances, I was unable to move to NY. (Mom got in the way.) I am currently unemployed and have since Nov of 05. It looks like you two really need to sit down and talk.... no yelling, no interupting... seems there's a lot of misuderstandig, and you both need to get out all your feelings and fustrations on the table... then maybe you two can understand each other better and things can get better from there. I can understand where she may be coming from, with expecting to have a great day to spend with you, then something comes up and squashes her idea... it's happened to me before. Both you and her are just going to realize, that things happen and get in the way... cherish the time you do have and don't dwell on the time you aren't together or something comes up to delay such things... I hope that made sense. :) Good luck :)

Don't sweat Charleston too hard - as someone in newyorkers commented, there's a lot of traffic back and forth. Don't forget that Stephen Colbert grew up there and frequently returns (and he is not alone in this). There's also a decent ex-pat community and network of us up here. Ingratiate yourself in Charleston, mention your NYC ambitions to your employer, and you never know....

Hi there-

I saw your post in the newyorkers community, but they can be kind of heinous and mean to people who aren't from a suitable geographic location. Anyways, my boyfriend just moved to New York City two months ago, and is in a living situation that isn't going well (though it is temporary). They will all tell you that you can't live in Manhattan on the budget you listed, but you absolutely can, it's just further uptown. No, it won't have a park view or be in OMGWTF LOWER EAST SIDE but it will be suitable! My boyfriend lives in Harlem (140th) and rides 25 minutes to work in the downtown area (around 55th st). He pays something ridiculous like 500 a month for everything and his apartment is not bad.

Anyways, I was hoping you'd get in touch with me so I can keep you posted on his situation. He might need a roommate sooner rather than later, his budget matches yours, and he'll be 23 in February. My e-mail is erbishop@indiana.edu, or you can just leave me a comment on my journal. I hope I can help you out! Let me know.

-Erin
