babe, I wish I had an answer for you. The only thing i can think about is going to YOUR manager and asking her what you did wrong. Unfortunately, you already know she's not really down with confrontation and whatnot.
I wish this didn't happen to you. I barely know you but i can tell you are a sweet girl and are very very talented.
Need me to kick anyone's ass? I'm a big girl. ;)

i hate it when completely OUTSIDE people decide they need to deliver the news. Or maybe someone asked her to do it so you wouldn't "take it personally." Good luck with sorting it all out.
I hope to see a "so i straightened everything out with my manager" post soon. :)
and *hug*

i had a similiar issue when i went to corporate training where i work. they brought in a someone to tell us how to motivate our workers, this man had never been in the field and spent most of the time trying to sell his book. he tried to tell me that i was pessimistic and negative in how i run my market (in front of other managers throughout the country). i solved this by sitting down with my regional manager and discussing issues directly with him. i try to have a good time and in general my workers are really good....the speaker told me that my workers wouldnt like working for me. my advice would be to discuss this with the new manager and if that doesnt work go above her and talk one on one to the big boss. you are a sweet person and always had a smile on your face when i knew you. in general i think your new manager might be having a power struggle and thinks that you looking bad makes her either look proactive (in trying to fix the situation) or makes her look better to the higher ups. keep your head up doll! i hope this ( ... )

Thats horrible Jayme. I would talk to your manager and if that doesn't get you anywhere, can you talk to a regional manager or something? The person in charge of your manager. I wouldn't call that complaining because what your manager did is just unprofessional.

agreed! thanks for commenting.. i'm going to confront my manager first, tell her how it made me feel and ask her why she went about it that way.. for all i know this other manager could have taken it upon herself to do this without my manager even knowing..who knows..

i will keep you posted

Aw, shit. This is what it was like when the old counter manager was there, before Belle became counter manager. She was so freaking uptight that none of us knew what to expect from her. She chewed us out (me especially as I was brand new) over the most ridiculous stuff. "You need to work on face charts." "You should be cleaning instead of doing face charts." That kind of shit. She had a talk with me that started "what are *we* going to do about your health", yet I had not called in, I guess I just didn't hustle fast enough for her or something. Also yelled at me for being late during Christmas when I'd showed up to the mall 40 minutes early but it took nearly an hour to park. (?!) Stuff like that, all the time. I remember one of the girls finally just proclaimed right to her face, "YOU. MUST. CHILL." It was sorta funny...heh Seriously, though, that is one thing I hate about retail, it's like you don't have the right to be a human being and get sick, hell, when I worked there I didn't get time to go to the damn bathroom ( ... )

Your reputation with your company, your counter and your clients is too good for this one little snit to harm your career.

I agree with your other friend, bring it up with your manager (you have a new one while Belle's on leave or something?). Let him/her know that if you did something wrong you want to fix it, but that you honestly, truly were not aware you'd done anything. If you bring it up in a non confrontational way you're more likely to get a good reaction.

If there's anyone who loves their job, it's you...the people who spend the most time there at the counter with you know that.

I really don't wanna make you parinoid, but reading the above just makes me think that your not the problem, these managers are. Maybe its cos you look 'different', maybe there conservative assholes who just prejudged you?

But I just don't think your the problem here?
