This post is a little odd. I came across a song I wrote ages ago and decided to rewrite it because some parts totally sucked could be improved on.
The song is about a character in a story I wrote years ago, and the changes he goes through. I called it Alexis' Song. I know it's not great, but I hope it's not completely awful either heh.
Barely a dim glow in the face of the dark
Not much to stand on, but he played his part
His world was still frozen
Vacant, enclosing
Without hazard warning
Of the Rain that would fall
Inside he was growing
Changing and flowing
A force uncontrollable, taking him slowly
Claws in the darkness
It sunk into him
Immolating
Tainting within
And now he burns
Taking him over
He burns
Falling in deeper
He burns
Eyes blazing open
He’s losing emotion
It’s almost over
His body, now open
To the fiery embrace
The numb of his past self
Was too much to face
Dragging him under
Breaking asunder
Guilt and redemption
Thrown into the fire
And now he burns
Taking him over
He burns
Falling in deeper
He burns
Eyes blazing open
He’s losing emotion
It’s almost over
And now he lays
Alone
Forgotten, abandoned, on his own
The darkness is binding, to keep him in place
The shell is now broken
The words left unspoken
Harder she’s falling
As blood flows away
And now he lays…
I still feel that some parts might be a little too 'dramatic' though.
I know I wrote a 'part two' to this song, about what happens to the character in another story, and was planning a third for the last stage of his character arc. I might work on those at some point.
