Title: Reflection
Character(s): Hoonmin
Rating: No rating
Summary: He's drowning in perfection.
a finger dips into the calm water. he gazes blankly as ripples crawl their way along the clear liquid, breaking the smooth surface. his reflection becomes broken as he lifts his now moist finger.
the still silence wraps itself around him as the water becomes peaceful once again. the ripples flow away and there he is, stuck with the reflection of his face once more. the perfect, unbroken reflection that stares emptily back at him. his fingers start trembling, and he screams.
he screams and punches the water. his reflection shatters into a million water droplets and fall upon him. his fists unclench and rest by his side.
the water, it's perfect.
it's too perfect.
he tried his best, he really did. he tried everything he could to please her. he pushed himself for the sake of his mother. he pushed himself so hard.
his grades were perfect. the way he carried himself was perfect. the way he talked was perfect.
perfect, that's what he was.
but no one's perfect.
"oh, hoonmin, his grades are good, but they're never anything good enough. sure, he's obedient and smart, but where's the vigor in that? it's almost as if he isn't a child anymore."
she talked about him like he was nothing. like his efforts to please her were nothing.
maybe he was nothing.
"perfection scares me," he whispers softly to himself now.
because if perfection wasn't appreciated, then it shouldn't exist at all.
