"I got your Zerg riiiiight here!"

So, in lieu of waiting for Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty to be released (which, perhaps, will get me back into gaming full swing), I decided to replay the original and Brood WarTen years ago, when I wasn't on QuakeWorld Team Fortress or the HL port (TFC), there was my casual battle.net gameplay. I'm very much a quality over quantity guy, hence I'm a Protoss player.

The Zerg are just too hard for me to manage, personally. I like to have some form of micromanagement of my squads, and the Zerg mentality is "make huge masses of troops, and then just dump them on the enemy base". Ultralisks play more into my style, but they're expensive and have a massive weakness (air attacks).

The Terrans after BW were awesome though. A well-balanced squad of marines, firebats and medics could wreck havoc on anyone who doesn't have the heavy artillery to one-shot a medic.

I hear that, I'm the same way. Sure, most Zerg units are cheap, but one ends up having to reinforce attack squads because you get what you pay for. I'd much rather spend the funds upgrading and researching secondary functions to make my units more robust.

While both Terran and Protoss require micromanagement (the latter a bit less since they are tough-as-nails), I think that's what makes them both fun to play; moreover, I liked being able to use both techs in the final Protoss mission in the original.

Reminds me of one of my favorite tricks - mind-controlling drones and SCVs with Dark Archons. Having all three races at your disposal is really, really fun.
