Torchwood: Children of Earth.

All I can say about Torchwood season 3?

Until the end of ep 4 and then ep 5, I was good.

I didn't think it was possible for there to be a show that depressed me more than Battlestar Galactica 2003. Well, This season's Torchwood just beat it. Torchwood beat it, stepped on it, and then spit on it.

I'm not a big fan, I don't read fic, I don't write Torchwood fic. Hell, I've never been to a con, I don't squee over Jack/Ianto, Tosh/Owen, Myfawny/Cyber-girlfriend, whatever. Friends of mine got me into the show, and I keep up on the show for said friends and because I'm really in between show obsessions right now and Torchwood and Dr. Who is quality television that I might become obsessed with...someday.

But after that series? Where's the bandwagon to go after the writers with knives?

Was I the only one that felt like that was a big fuck you to the fans? As stated above, I don't even really consider myself a fan. I don't get where they're going with it, or what they plan to do afterwords.

Now, don't get me wrong, the actors were outstanding, I cried, smiled and laughed the whole way though.

It's the writers I want to go after with pointy knives.

Need I mention that the whole ending...how long would it have taken to run over to base housing and grab 10 kids? 15 kids? 20 kids? A shorter time than it took to fight to the grandson. It's a big deus ex machina they pulled out of their hats, we'd have accepted ANYTHING time wise you threw at us. No, they wanted Jack to OMG ANGST over it.

Forget that the more fun angst, the angst that could be used over and over would be Jack's relationship with the estranged daughter. She proved she could hold her own in a fight, and wasn't afraid of the oddness. With a little training, she'd be a good Torchwood recruit. And hello, there's a woman that kinda hates you and is related to you working on your team. NOW THAT IS GOOD TELEVISION POTENTIAL.

No, she only existed to have a kid for Jack to kill and then go woobie over.

As I've talked with others over AIM. Torchwood is going to do have to do some major fixing of its universe for me to seriously consider watching it anymore.

I'm heated. Really I am. Over a series that I've never tried to write fic for, or even really follow fandom wise.

Yeah, as I sad to a friend earlier... "yeah, Torchwood is darker... but if I wanted to watch something that dark, I'd rent a Holocaust movie and follow it up with emo music."
