We won the big one - we all did. And four of us from Berkeley helped, just a little.

I agree he's something of a screen on which the world has projected its various unfulfillable (and incompatible) fantasies. On the other hand, I think it's well within the realm of possibility for him to be a better president than Bill Clinton (minus the favorable stock market), simply because he appears to share Clinton's intelligence without Clinton's self-destructive streak (which may be just another way of saying "he's an adult!"). Being better than Clinton would make him the best president in half a century (unless you are a huge fan of Carter or one of the last few Republicans). I will take that ( ... )

It's a cliche to say that politicians make promises and the public just lap it up... but does that really apply to Obama? A lot of his appeal was simply not being Bush, and he's rarely promised to do anything other than address the problems that were being ignored ( ... )

You said it. My default approach to anything political is to be negative and cynical and suspicious, but I'm realizing that that's a vestige of having come of age in the toxic stew that is the past twenty years of American politics, and I'm realizing that it doesn't do much good to cling to that worldview.

Y'all done good.

Chris and I swung Ohio, your house swung Nevada, Oki and Rachael Barge swung Florida-- I know what you mean about the seeming impossibility of victory, but every time someone would get really gloomy about our prospects, I would laugh a carefree laugh and go "Oh, it's fine. We've got some good people on it."

Now we just need to take care of the minor niggling issue of basic civil rights violations.

Next year in Zion.

it's interesting how the polling near election time can be so meaningless sometimes.
looking back at your post ping from 10/31, nevada was within 2%,
yet 4 days later, obama won 55 to 43.
maybe ping et al were responsible for this shift to a double digit difference.
