It's time for yet another American Family Association poll! Yayyyy! From the folks that brought us the "Do You Support Gay Marriage" poll (overwhelmingly yes, weren't they pissed!) and the odd "Will You Boycott MTV?" poll which only had ONE choice- "yes". Okay, that last one wasn't really much of a "poll" in the traditional sense, was it? It

But what I found most amazing is Michael Peroutka; I had seen a couple of people on the airsoft board recommend him. Wow, what a scary dude! He doesn't believe in the separation of church and State and, in fact, thinks the Bible is founding document of this country; that America is a "sacred land." As he says:
Michael Anthony Peroutka and the Constitution Party will fight to defend America against enemies domestic and foreign and return to a Republic of self-governing states whose laws are rooted in Biblical principles.
I wonder which particular Biblical principles he means. It is clear what he thinks of marriage and abortion, though.
About the only think on which he and I agree is that Bush is bad for the country.

The only mail I ever get from them is when they have a new poll. Oh, and last month they notified me that Urban Outfitters was offering a dress-up Jesus magnet set including BDSM gear and dresses. I called every UO in town and it seems they sold those around last Christmas (AFA isn't very up to date!) and they were really freaked out that so many people were calling looking for them again. That was my favorite part- no one called to complain, just to score such a cool piece of fridge art. I figure if anything cool (by my standards) crops up AFA will let me know. :-)

One of the guys supporting him (both named Phillips, you'll note) is president of The Vision Forum which seems to be some kind of weird mix of Indiana Jones and Jerry Falwell. It is pretty much Biblical Fundamentalism crossed with Home Schooling; they have "Creation Adventures & Films" where you can go and dig up Dinosaurs that perished in the "Great Flood." This pretty much sums up their view of how the world should be:
Even among our most cherished church leaders it has become the exception to find happy, unbroken homes which radiate the love of Jesus, where the children call the parents blessed, where the mother is a content keeper at home, and where the father practices daily family worship. They have sections for "The All-American Boy's Adventure" and for "The Beautiful Girlhood Collection"; the Boy's section has crossbows and pen knives, the Girl's section has Jacks Sets ( ... )
