Practical applications of Gemara

Say two guys own a TV together. One of them turns it on and starts watching. The second one comes along & joins him. The first one then decides he is done watching and ready to go do something else. In order to indicate his complete "I'm done"-ness, is it sufficient for him to walk away, or must he hand the second guy the remote ( Read more... )

I don't know the Bava Kamma, but from your description these don't sound quite parallel. If you walk away from our TV I can change the channel and change it back if you were only going to the restroom -- no harm done to you and minor inconvenience to me. The car getting squished by a meteor is a littler more permanent.

They aren't parallel, they are discussed on the same page. Both are modern applications of Talmudic cases.
