Yeah, they sound like good eggs. Another point in their favor is that they are former LJ employees, so they have some familiarity with running this sort of thing.

I'd try it out if I got an invite. I don't really use LJ heavily enough for it to be worth buying a paid account on LJ, let alone a smaller service, so I'm probably going to wait until enough invites become available.

That's good. I have already created an OpenID account with my LJ, so I hope that works out for me; I haven't yet seen any reference to that policy on any official Dreamwidth pages (though it is a little hard to follow, since they have a wiki, their news community, mailing lists, etc).

In the comments of today's news post: http://dw-news.dreamwidth.org/4383.html?thread=416031#t416031

(I knew I'd read it definitively *somewhere*.) Mostly the dw_news and email postings are the same; I certainly don't follow *everything.*

That response is really amazing--I've been following Dreamwidth for a while now, and have an account there (under this name), and reading Denise's response and the revised Diversity Statement just makes me all the more enthusiastic and hopeful about this service.
