Damn, I'm old. rtpeck October 1 2009, 23:31:28 UTC
Here I am saying to myself, "I don't understand." And laughing at myself. In diversity training, I'm often wondering why people are saying they don't understand. You don't have to understand. People don't exist for you to understand. But I need cultural commentary or technical explanations for what I've just seen after watching these.

Forgive me, I was listening to Journey in Junior High.

*grin* That particular song by Journey has experienced a bit of a revival since it was used in the pilot of a TV show called Glee, which is a comedy musical set in a high school, featuring the students of a Glee Club. Every 5 minutes, everybody breaks into song -- the football jocks, the music geeks, the teachers, etc. I have mixed feelings about it because of the show's treatment of disability and race, although it's true that every character in the show is a caricature and a stereotype. And it gets jockboys and cheerleaders to think a cappella is cool.

The arrangement of Don't Stop Believin' in the videos above is the one written and performed in the Glee pilot.

With today's technology, it's not difficult to take several videos shot against the same background and splice them together. That's what's going on in the first video.

In the second video, it's just two videos placed next to each other, like an old-school splitscreen without the line separating the two. The audio is combined.

So I am having a morning of much suck. I didn't get enough sleep (again), I'm congested, there is too much work to do (again), the elves did not come in the night and do the housework, there are errands to run, rent to pay and never as much money as would be ideal.

I had skimmed over this and came back today for a pick-up.
I didn't have the patience, for the third, and while I-am-my-own-band-boy (#1) was good, it's Nick Pintera who is providing the lift I need.

Thank you. I would not have gone out looking for these myself, but am so glad to have them readily available, already currated and right here.

*grin* I love that Nick doesn't take himself too seriously in his videos. I also like watching him do the Disney songs -- one from Aladdin and another from the Little Mermaid. Glad to have brought him into your world, and I hope your mornings suck less in the future.
