Jet - Post Surgery

Mar 23, 2009 18:18

Jet Cultir is both sick and having a fair amount of pain recovering from the surgery. Is there anyone who could stay with her while the kid is at school tomorrow (maybe after)? He was up all night last night helping her and missed school today to stay at the task. He really can't afford to do that at this point ( Read more... )

Poor Jet! :( Sadly, I am tied up doing kid stuff tomorrow. Damien is a really, really good kid.

Argh -- wish I could help, but toddler + sick person does not compute. :(

Indeed he is. Unfortunately, he is a really, really good kid who is having enough school problems from previous absences (and the stress of everything that has been going on in the past 6+ months) that he can't afford more days out of school. :(

Have you talked with his school? I'm reminded of when I was in high school, and a cousin of mine died. Another cousin who went to the same school talked to her guidance counselors and asked for a lot of help, and they were great and cut her all sorts of academic slack and really worked with her to help her make it through the emotionally difficult period afterward. I hated asking for help and just tried to manage on my own, and they didn't offer me one lick of help or slack, and I wound up failing some courses last quarter (thank goodness, AFTER I got into college). Clearly what Damien's been through recently is MUCH worse than that... anyone with a human heart could see he deserves some extra help and support and some academic allowances at a time like this. But I don't think most schools are set up to realize that proactively and do something about it... you have to ask ( ... )

Yup and they are...which is why none of the deserved F's appear on the report card, but he still needs to learn the stuff and more missed time makes it harder and harder...

I thought she had friends staying with her for FOUR days starting Friday night? That's what she told me.

Anyway, just saw this (10:35 pm). Can you call me (781-777-1477 home/617-513-2244 cell) and let me know what kind of sick and does she need someone tonight? I can get there tomorrow, but I'm not good at getting up early so wondering if it's better if I just go over tonight. How would I get into the house? And, I don't have your cellfone #.

Maybe I can convince her to go back to the hospital if she's sick enough.

I called Whitney's cell and left her a message, as Whitney had offered to come by THIS week, I think. (I might be wrong and it's next week/this weekend.)

I have a kid's definition on what kind of sick, which is very vague at best. I know he is bringing her many ice packs for the back...hopefully that is what is on the Dr's orders for her. I'll call around 9 or so to back up my email with contact info.

Unfortunately, I've been in no shape myself to track what is going on over there...I came home from work Friday and the cold/flu I had been fighting off took me out. Spent the weekend flat on my back and am still weak enough to lose wrestling a kitten.

Okay so the plan now is I get over there as early as I can later today (Tuesday), hopefully before noon. I'll try my best. Hope she's well enough to get up to let me in the door.

Please call my cellfone so I'll have your number for coordinating whatever. And/or email me your number via bryonyk at gmail dot com.

Sorry...I went to bed around 10 (sick myself), so I didn't see your email until now. I'll drop a line with my cell #...strange, i thought Tom had it from the moving furniture times...

he did, and I probably did, since you've called me on mine: but that was sooo long ago, and we don't tend to keep #s in our cellfones that we don't call regularly.

Once I add things they live there unless the phone runs low on memory. :)

I would be happy to help after 2 (when my kid gets out of school), though I don't know that she knows me well enough to be comfortable with that. I only travel by public transport though. I am free almost all of Thursday (1 brief errand to run but no regularly) and all afternoons if that would help.
