So...IDEK what happened, but Young Justice is the most amazing thing ever? I'm not even halfway through the first anon fic meme post and I'm like, drowning in an endless sea of amazing. Hyperactive baby fandom leapfrogging and drawing from comics stuff, yaaaaay!
Things are just getting started so I'm not even sure of my own taste yet, but weirdly

Yeah, aside from the Tim/Kon thing, there are just a bunch of factors for me, both with the fanon ships and the ones being hinted at in canon. For fanon, it seems like KF/Robin is a big one, but... :(a Dick is so young I get a little >_> when there's anything with him more than crushing or whatever. And the ships in the show...yeeeeeah IDK I'm not really feeling any of them as more than friends. 8|a I think they're pushing it a little fast and early with the implications, even though implications are all they are at this point ( ... )

Creators, almost-kiss based off of two episodes of sudden "o hai canon ship" is not want. I'm kind of disappointed, really, because I liked the way their interactions started out; but then they suddenly turned from "two people who have trouble with social interactions" into "STARE AT YOU, RESCUE YOU, LOVE BEAM OF POWERRRRRR". Bwuh?
Are you reading my mind? 8|a That's pretty much my exact reaction to the shippy stuff in this ep. I liked M'gann and Superboy playing off each other at first, and even when M'gann was kind of crushing on SB I was just like haha, okay that's kind of cute (/hopes it doesn't go anywhere >_>) but now...There's been practically no development, there hasn't been time, and they're both (but especially SB) not up on proper social interaction at all, and they're already jumping into romance? Ugh, just the point in this ep: SB didn't exist six months ago, ffs. And unlike comics!Kon, he doesn't act anything like a normal 16 year old because he wasn't fed that ( ... )

Also, I've barely even scratched the surface of the Young Justice comic yet, but I read the first couple issues and World Without Grown-Ups, AND OKAY. I already totally and 100% completely understand why so many people went >\\ over the lineup change in the cartoon. Superboy couldn't BE any different, lmfao, AND IMPULSE. Oh my god, I love him already. And Robin, oh man, I love all three of their interactions so much. So much fun!! :Db

YAY! :D Young Justice is strong right out of the starting gate, haha, I reread the first 15 issues or so a while back and it's a blast. |D ("NO! Nuns in a station wagon loaded with high explosives! Just my luck!" Oh Tim XD) And I KNOW RIGHT, hahahaha! I was really, really bamboozled by Superboy in the cartoon at first just because, bwuh? XD He is so different, cognitive dissonance like whoa, but I've really warmed up to toon!SB. He's adorable in his own right. :)a TOLD YOU IMPULSE IS EPIC! Man, what I wouldn't have given to see their animated ( ... )

Their animated interactions would be epic, I can't believe they HAVEN'T done that yet! Like. SERIOUSLY. And I guess now they won't be able to for...forever. Until THIS series is done. HOPEFULLY ONE DAY!

I HOPE SO. Man, they've got to someday. ;__;

Y'know, usually source material with good quality doesn't get that much fic because it doesn't require it, and stuff with a lot of holes and problems gets 'fixed' by huge fandoms, I've noticed. I guess the fact that YJ's universe is so huge and what they can show in the actual 30 minutes of each episode so limited that there's a lot to play around with! XD

Roman history - I have to admit that primarily reminds me of the not-terribly-accurate old Asterix comcis, although I also read several novels set there by a Swedish author in my teens. They seemed well-researched and focused on ordinary people, particularly those struggling with Christian ideas - no evangelising, though! - but I doubt any have been translated.
But even though it takes place way earlier than the historical period, I'd still like to rec one of my favourite historical/mythical books, Lavinia by Ursula K Le Guin. It tells the story of a side character in Virgil's Aeneid epos (which I still haven't read), way back before Rome was founded. It's a bit meta/post-modern - she becomes aware that she's a fictional character; and even converses with Virgil somehow - but it doesn't feel silly or forced. Mostly it's a fascinating ( ... )

I guess I could look around, but yeah, probably haven't been translated. Shame!
Oooooom Ursula K. LeGuin! :Da An earlier period than I usually look at, but it sounds interesting, I'll definitely have to take a look! Thanks for the rec! /adds it to my reading list

Yeah, I just looked the writer up on a Swedish pan-library site and none of her books have been translated to English. Oh, well.
Are you familiar with Larry Gonick's The Cartoon History of the Universe? The second volume covers ancient Rome. I'm a big fan of the work - despite what one might think of the cartoon form, he uses it more to explain complicated stuff than as an incentive to simplify; and it's directed at an adult audience. (Though in a work of that kind inevitably a lot of details will be left out anyway - and if you're into the period, chances are he won't say much new.)

Okay, never mind, I just looked you up. ADDED! :Db
