Car Seats

Alaska made a new car seat law that children under 8 have to be restrained in a safety seat of some sort.   Great law except I can't fit any more than two safety seats in my car.  I wrote a letter to my Congressional delegation, and to the bill sponsors.  One guy sent a copy of my letter to a lady at DOT asking her to comment on my objections.  She ( Read more... )

While I totally understand why that law went into effect....it is ridiculous! Especially in cases like yours. At least there is the over 8 loophole!

Yeah. I agree that it's a good law. As a law abiding citizen (even if I don't like them) it's frustrating. I wrote letters not so much to complain about the law, but to explain how it will be hard for a handful of families to comply.

If I'm not mistaken, in Washington the law is booster until 9 years old or 4' 9". Also, it isn't the law, but parents are being encouraged to leave their babies in the rear-facing position until they don't fit that way anymore (until at least 2).
