My parents spoke Ukrainian fluently when I was a child and I knew a lot of words and phrases. They wanted us to "assimilate" and by the time I came around only spoke English in the house (but we went to a Ukrainian church and lived in a Ukrainian-Canadian community.) Although I know a lot of words and phrases, including some profanity, I never learned the two phrases you know. I don't think I ever heard my parents use either, even though Russia was despised in our home.

When I was in high school, one of my older brothers played a dirty trick on me. He taught me a phrase that he said was a way to tell a girl that she was pretty. The phrase was "teh hochish yobata" (my anglicized phonetics). It actually means "do you want to fuck?"
