Even private and discreet adultery can violate these standards, depending on the circumstances.

UCMJ is a federal law. Commander-in-Chief (US President) is ultimately responsible for enforcing this law. Maximum punishment is dishonorable discharge, forfeiture of all pay and allowances, and confinement for 1 year.
