Phone shopping

My cell service has been giving my fits lately. We only use our cell phones, but we don't get much reception inside our house. I've tried a couple of different phones, but even my iPhone isn't much help. There have been a few times when I've wanted to throw it out the window because I can't even make a 5 minute call without lots of "You're ( Read more... )

I've got what you already have, an iphone (not the new one) and while I love it, its probably not helpful to you to know that. lol

Ed got the Droid at GDC for his speaker's gift and its pretty friggen awesome. If we didn't get a really good deal with AT&T for service I would have been pissed that we didn't wait -- I love the keyboard on it and the screens are pretty nice too. And oddly, I like that it is heavier and bigger than the iPhone -- I would be able to, you know, FIND IT in my purse. lol I came linked to Verizon, though, not sure if its unlockable or Verizon-specific.

When I looked at phones in December I was leaning towards the Motorola Blur, but that's only on T-Mobile I think. (And I only liked that because the Droid was too expensive, I would have wanted the Droid otherwise).

I wish they wouldn't make it so confusing and that you could just buy the phone you liked and the service you liked and then match them up.

I have the very first iPhone and they've added some really cool things since then. The Backflip I'm considering has the MotoBlur thing, which is really appealing and I was impressed with it when I checked it out in the store today. I was kinda disappointed that because of the design, I can't get a cool cover for it. Yes, it's shallow, but I like dressing up my phone :-)

We have T-Mobile so not totally helpful, but I just got a myTouch 3G & love it. It is my first experience with a smart phone so I could certainly just be in love with something that does things other than make calls. LOL It runs on the android operating system though & I've found it to be very intuitive & easy to use & there are plenty of useful apps out there. (one thing that I've heard is better about iphones is the availability of apps but I haven't had a problem).

Thanks! I'm definitely leaning toward the Backflip as it seems to have what I would want and I don't think I'll miss the huge number of apps. What I use and like are available on the android phone. And you're right, switching to a smart phone opens up whole new realms. Like having something to do while you're waiting on carpool, dance, softball, basketball, etc.

I went to the store and actually played with the phone for a few minutes, until the 6-year-old appropriated it and got far more stuff to work than I did. Thankfully, it feels pretty sturdy as I have two kids that like to play on my phone and tend to bang it around/drop it. I don't like that the design prohibits having a real protective cover, but there is one that will cover the sides and the screen, just not the keyboard on the back. They *say* that's sturdy enough for rough handling, but we'd just have to see ( ... )

I'm holding out for a rumored new web os device (though no idea when (IF?) it's coming, lol)... anyway, did you know there is vid recording now? 1.4 update rolled out to sprint people end of feb :) one of my friends called me all excited because it also let her change her alert tones.

My phone is 100 years old, give or take ;) I have yet to find a phone on our provider that makes it seem worth changing over though, so we're sticking together a bit longer (not a fan of changing electronics, either, lol) Let us know what you end up with!
