Why hello there everyone! I know, this was a relatively quick update. God knows what happened ;) a good friend of mine from school has started to read this as well, and she promised me that she would vebally abuse me if it ever took me longer than two weeks to update. She is a good friend, cause the Lord knows I need it! haha :D Also, please excuse my atrocious spelling.
Thanks to everyone who is reading this, I really hope you enjoy this chapter because it is full of some really fun and exciting things. I have ben looking forwards to this one for a while :D Now I would just like to take this brief moment to say I'M SEEING HOMIN PERFORM THIS SATURDAY OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD!
Now let this chapter take you back to an innocent time of sweet debut.
Thanks again!!
OH and one more point~ I always have lyrics of songs at the start of each chapter. These lyrics don't really matter, it's just... The way that I have always written is by having each chapter with a song. The specific lyrics I have chosen do not matter, but the usage of the song is important. In my head, each chapter sounds like a song. Don't ask me how that makes sense, cause idek, but each chapter sounds different to me, and the song I have in the title is the song I have heard. Sounds lame, I know ;) just saying, though, the song I used does not matter at all~
- Hug by Dong Bang Shin Ki
“CUT!” the director pinched his nose, growling in frustration. He pointed one stumpy finger at the Maknae's guilty face. “You! Can you not do anything?” He snapped, causing ChangMin to gulp thickly. “It is so simple, can you not even do the simplest task?” JaeJoong frowned, moving at the same time as the other members to stand protectively around the maknae.
“He just-” YunHo began, but was stopped when the manager shook his head subtly.
“Sir, it was a small accident, nothing that cannot be fixed. He will do well in this take, I promise you.” he said, looking pointedly at the maknae. The director pouted, taking a deep breath and pointing back at the set,
“Fine. Dance again and lets wait for the kid to fuck it up again.” He snapped. JaeJoong bit his tongue before he could bite back a response he would regret. The five teens moved back into position, Jae pausing beside the maknae for a brief moment, clenching his fist up and winking reassuringly,
“Hwaiting.” he whispered. They did the take once more, getting it perfect staight away. The director looked at them bitterly, ignoring their triumph and looking at his clipboard.
“Toothy and Maknae,” he said, gesturing to YunHo and ChangMin, “You two are done. Get out of here. Foreigner, pudgy and pretty boy, we have to do a couple more takes for your cuts.” he said, before leaning over to the lighting man beside him and whispering, “Lets see how far these kids make it after debut with a maknae like that pulling them down.” Both men snickered. JaeJoong once again had to bite his tongue.
~
The front door of the dorm clicked softly as Jae entered, the rooms before him shrouded in darkness. The teen was just about to call out before he heard a sniffle and a calm soothing voice,
“Hey, don't cry. It's okay, he was just an idiot.” YunHo's voice was warm and affectionate, almost like a light through the darkness.
“But what if he was right? What if, we debut and we fail. We get nowhere... because of me? Hyung I don't want to ruin your carreer... You have worked so hard, I don't know what I would do if I ruined it all for you.” ChangMin's voice was quiet, and it really sounded as if he hurt. “Maybe I should just quit the group. You'd all be better of without me pulling you down.”
“Yah! ChangMin-ah! Don't ever say something like that! We are your Hyungs and we love you so much. We have been living together for over a month, but I already see you as my little brother. I'd trust you with my life and I can say that I know you a million times better than that director. You will do nothing but support us. You have amazingly strong vocals and you are a fast learner. Don't let one old man's idiocy affect you. He doesn't know anything!” YunHo pressed. Jae moved silently through the room, standing at the door to the bedroom and watching YunHo and ChangMin sitting facing each other on the soft matresses through the crack in the door that stood ajar.
“You'd trust me with your life, but not with your secrets.” ChangMin said knowingly. He wiped away his tears and let a smirk set on his features. YunHo looked taken aback and Jae could feel his stomach drop. Did ChangMin know?
“W-what?” YunHo asked, his eyebrows furroed and his mind racing.
“When I was approached by the SM emplyee about auditioning... I was hesitent. I didn't think about anything other than being famous, I guess... I had always liked singing, but I didn't know if I could do it in front of a crowd. My mum... she always had so much faith in me. I don't want to dissappoint her.” ChangMin continued, almost as if he had said nothing.
“ChangMin... I would trust you with anything. I don't know...” YunHo began, Jae could tell he was nervous. The maknae just laughed,
“Hyung, I'm not as stupid as the other two-” ChangMin paused when YunHo gave him a disapproving look,
“They are your Hyungs, you should be respectful.” he said, reaching out to ruffle ChangMin's hair.
“Well, I'm not as stupid as the other two Hyungs.” ChangMin put extra emphesis on the formalities. “But I am willing to fake ignorance until you and Jae are willing to tell me you're together.”
“What?” YunHo said, his eyes wide.
“What?” Jae heard himself say aloud, before immediately clapping his hands to his mouth.
“I also knew Jae was there.” ChangMin smiled, pointing at the door.
“Jae?” YunHo asked, standing up and opening the door to see the wide-eyed teen standing there.
“I... Uhm...” he tried, not quite knowing what to say. ChangMin just smiled at him as YunHo tugged him into the room and onto the matress.
“How did you know?” YunHo asked, a frown on his face.
“I have two eyes, two ears and a brain.” ChangMin said, cockily. “As I said, I'm not as stupid as the other two.”
“ChangMin-ah... You need to understand-”
“I would never dream of telling anybody, Hyung. I swear. “I..” he hesitated, going slightly pink and looking away from the other two. “I have been the eldest my whole life. I feel like finally someone is lookig out for me, instead of me having to keep an eye on my sisters. You two... You're like my big brothers. I would never want to hurt you... Your secret is safe with me.” he smiled at them both. “Except... If you are together... it would be weird to call you both my brothers. YooChun and JunSu are my brothers... You are...”
“Your parents.” Jae laughed, poking at the maknae. YunHo broke into a wide smile, grabbing ChangMin and tickling him,
“Hey! Cut it out!” the maknae cried, mking an attempt to get away.
“Only if you call me daddy.” YunHo said, letting laughter spill from his lips like music.
“Hey! Why aren't I the daddy? I'm older!” Jae said, pouting.
“Pfft, ten days is nothing. Plus, we all know I'm the man in this relationship.” YunHo grinned before leaning in and kissing Jae's pouted lips.
“Ew, not in front of me.” ChangMin pulled a face. Jae laughed at him, poking his chest,
“I knew kids hated seeing their parents kiss!” he said.
“You're not my parents!” ChangMin whined, glaring daggers at the eldest.
“We're home!” they heard JunSu's voice from another room. The two hyungs stood up, making for the door quickly but ChangMin stopped them, his voice serious.
“You have to tell them.” he said. “It's not fair... they have a right to know.” Jae paused and sighed,
“I know.” YunHo and Jae continued out the door, but ChangMin quickly grabbed the leader around the wrist, making his turn and look back.
“Thank you.” he said, his face still looked playful, but YunHo could tell that he meant it with all his heart. ChangMin was sixteen years old, he was living out of home and was about to debut into one of the most competative industries in the world. He had every right to be scared,
“Any time.”
~
Jae and YunHo stood in the centre of the living room, their hearts thumping and their minds racing. YooChun, JunSu and ChangMin all sat in front of them on the couch, eyebrows raised in anticipation for whatever information they were about to receive. Jae looked aprehensively across the people before him and felt a small smile on his lips when ChangMin mouthed at him, 'hwaiting!'
“YooChun-ah... JunSu-yah... YunHo and I have something to tell you that we have wanted to tell you before, and you have the right to know. But you need to understand that we have been scared of this for a long time, we need to tell you this secret because we can't stop ourselves.. We need you to understand that we love you and-”
“JaeJoong-ah... you're not making any sense.” YunHo put a hand on Jae's arm and sent him a warm smile. “We have a confession, but we don't want this confession to afeect our relationship. We know that many consider what we're doing to be wrong... but... We can't stop it.” Neither of the boys before them looked scared or confused, just bored. Jae hesitated briefly, but continued,
“I... I'm in love with YunHo... and he feels the same about me. We know that this is so wrong for people from our country... but I can't help loving him. It's not something we can fight... and it's not something I want to fight.” Jae admitted, he felt his heart race and his blood pump, but still there was no reaction.
“We're sorry...” YunHo tried, but YooChun and JunSu just smiled.
“Finally.” YooChun said, looking at the two with feigned contempt. “I was starting to wonder if you trusted us at all.”
“What?” Jae asked, did all the members know?
“Hyung, we have known for months. You really took your time to tell us, though.” JunSu laughed lightly. ChangMin just smirked,
“Maybe the foreigner and the duckbutt aren't stupid after all.” he said.
“Yah! What was that about my butt?” JunSu cried, staring at the maknae in shock.
“Honesty, Hyung, it was honesty.” ChangMin said, a smile on his face before he stood up and ran, JunSu hot on his heels.
“So everyone knew?” MinJong asked. Jae raised his eyebrows at the look of fear on the trainee's face.
“Yeah, they all knew. They were fine with it, though.” Jae smiled. “I felt like a bit of an idiot for not telling them earlier.”
“So they didn't say anything, but they knew? What if they hadn't been okay? They could have told someone! Oh god...” the teen looked conflicted.
“hey... are you alright?” Jae asked, pulling out of his own mind to observe the younger.
“I... yeah.. I just...” he trailed off, his hands wringing in his lap. “What happened next?” he asked, his eyes worried.
“Next? Well... We trained for about three more weeks. Since the other members had known of the relationship... it was easier to get time with him. We were left alone together more while YooChun would watch ChangMin tormenting poor JunSu. YunHo and I could talk together, we could really connect, but the best part was the ability to be ablt to hold hands, kiss and touch while in the dorm or while alone with the other members...”
JaeJoong moaned lightly as YunHo ran a cold hand beneath his shirt, their lips pressed together as their tongues did the sensual dance for dominance. Jae pushed YunHo off of him, pushing the shirt off over his head and dropping it on the floor,
“Jae...” YunHo looked down to the pink cheeks and mussled hair that lay below him and felt the air leave his lungs. Jae was stunning, his big, hungry eyes boreing holes into YunHo. “Jae... we shouldn't go too far, the others are here too...” he said. Jae nodded his head but reached up, pulling YunHo back into the kiss.
“No more clothes off... More kissing.” was all he said between breaths. YunHo could barely see a problem with that. Hands found their way underneath Jae's shirt again as the two reconnected their lips.
“Hyung, what are you doing here?” YooChun's surprised voice came through the door from the living room. The two eldest paused slightly,
“YunHo-yah borrowed my jacket last time I saw him. I just came to get it back.” HeeChul's indestingushable voice came, “It'll be in the bedroom, I'll only be a sec, then I'll get out of your hair.” the voice was getting closer.
“Erm... Hyung!” JunSu cried, seeing the panic on YooChun's face. “I haven't seen you in ages!”
“JunSu-yah, we ate together last night.” HeeChul raised an eyebrow before reaching for the doorhandle to the bedroom.
“Hyung!” ChangMin called out this time, “How are you?” he asked, not knowing what else to say.
“I'm cold, ChangMin-ah. I'm getting my jacket.” the eldest said, turning the doorhandle and swinging the bedroom door open. JunSu, YooChun and ChangMin let out a loud sigh of relief when they saw JaeJoong tucked snugly under the covers of YunHo's bed, making fairly convincing sleeping noises.
“Why is Jae in YunHo's bed?” the man asked, not missing a beat.
“he was so tired when we got back from training... He must have just crashed at the closest one.” JunSu laughed awkwardly, but HeeChul just shrugged, walking swiftly into the room and looking around.
YunHo kay under the bed, holding his breath tight and looking around for some form of escape. He tried to shuffle forther backwards but felt something behind him. He glanced over his shoulder and swore internally as he saw HeeChul's jacket lying there.
“Hmm... Where could he have put it?” HeeChul asked, looking around the room. He finally got onto his knees, looking under the bed and right into YunHo's eyes. HeeChul raised an eyebrow, the large smirk showing on his face. 'I knew it!' he mouthed, grabbing his jacket from YunHo's arms and standing straight again. “Here it is!” he said triumphantly, passing the three members in the doorway. “Next time you see your Hyung, tell him not to leave my things under his bed. Heaven knows who else could be under there.”
“Who else?” JunSu asked, his eyebrow raised.
“Oh sorry, I meant what else.” HeeChul said over his shoulder as he left the apartment.
YunHo climbed out from under the bed and pulled the blankets back, uncovering a fully clothes Jae to the other members in the doorway.
“Okay.” he said, “HeeChul knows.”
“HeeChul knew too?” MinJong asked, his eyebrows raised.
“HeeChul... has always been a very perseptive person. Hell, he knew I was in love with YunHo before I did.” Jae replied, shrugging his shoulders lightly. “I had known that we wouldn't be able to keep it from him, but I didn't think he'd find out like that.”
“He seems smart...” MinJong said, as if contemplating something.
“He knows everything about everyone, but will never share secrets of his own. There are many questions I ask myself, but I will never know... he is a very strong man like that. I could trust him with anything.” Jae smiled.
“Are you and him still close?” MinJong looked hopeful, but Jae just looked up at the high windows near the roof of the training room. The sun was setting,
“My relationship with HeeChul is very complicated.” was all he replied, “The sun is going down, we should continue.” he said, moving passed the subject of his Hyung.
“Okay... What happened next?” MinJong prompted, looking at Jae.
“Next? Next we debuted. The five of us stood backstage together watching BoA perform. She was amazing, she always had been. It was the day I had met her, but we had been too focused on the butterflies in our stomachs to be able to concentrate on her. I felt like my mind was going to explode, or like I couldn't breathe, but YunHo... he took me to another room where he held me tight and kissed the butterflies away...”
Jae clutched at his chest as his irregular breaths took over his body. What if he fell? What iof he forgot the words? This was possibly one of the biggest moments of his life and the butterflies in his stomach acted as some kind of reminder or the possibilities of how much he could mess it up.
“Hyung... you're going green.” ChangMin said, softly. Jae looked up at him, he looked nervous. Extremely so. But he didn't look like he was about to be sick like Jae felt. A hand wrapped around Jae's wrist and tugged him down the hallway and into an empty room.
“Breathe, Jae.” YunHo's voice was gentle as a hand ran through his stylishly tousled hair. YunHo's lips connected with Jae's in a soft friction. “You will be amazing, you will be powerful and you will be the most beautiful boy on the show.”
“I'm so scared.” Jae confessed, pressing his forehead against YunHo's.
“I think the butterflies in my stomach are trying to eat me from the inside out.” YunHo replied, tugging on the hand he held within his.
“You're going to be spectacular.” Jae said, holding tighter,
“And you're going to be better.” YunHo replied, pulling Jae into his arms for a tight embrace.
“Dong Bang Shin Ki! Two minutes!” came a voice through the door. YunHo kissed Jae once more before pulling back and looking him right in the eyes.
“You ready?” he asked. Jae nodded, opening the door and making their way towards where they would wait for their turn. Where they would wait for their carreers to begin, and for themselves to step into an uncertain future. The five stood beside the stage and looking at each other, putting their hands in the middle,
“Hwaiting!” they all whispered in unison, smiles sent between each other. Dong Bang Shin Ki took the stage for the first time, the five members sitting side by side singing the song they all knew too well. Jae looked across each of the members, from his new brothers, YooChun and JunSu to his maknae whom he saw almost as a child, then over to YunHo, the love of his life, and out to the screaming crowd. It was the first time he heard someone scream his name, the first time he heard someone call out the lyrics and the first time he sat, basking in the lights of the stage.
A warmth swelled up through his stomach.
This was right.
