Tonight I have witnessed the equivalent of a lynch mob forming online. A man I respect very much, my friend Todd Freiberger, was visciously verbally attacked by a bunch of LJ users. people stoop to insulting other people's character when they have nothing better to retaliate with. just look at the presidential elections ;-)
and, did you just say totalitarians and the mentally deficient don't belong at the university, or their tactics don't? because i'm seeing a growing trend in admissions (stop me if you think i'm wrong): a)warm body, b)check clears the bank. the lack of meeting criteria (a) is not always a deal breaker.
but, here's a question - do you think it happened because todd has never been shy about the fact that he will stand up and debate these things?
he can keep up with the best of em when it comes to these kinds of things, so maybe that's why they felt they could even start something with him. (i am by no means implying he welcomes or deserves it)
my dunno, this is why i try to maintain a boring life. works better for me.
