I'm glad you turned out OK too. It's good to remember that any one of us could die without warning at any moment; I don't think my friend Eric had any idea he was about to die when he did.
I'll try to remember not to sit where I can fall down and bang my head if I start to feel dizzy from being sick.
Have you checked to see if you have been infected with trichinosis from the pork? I don't know how much raw pork you have to eat to get trichinosis. I know it's tough finding that level of health care when you're living in a developing country such as California, but you have enough persistence that you could probably manage it, if you decided it was important.
Amusingly, the 168 restaurant in question is the one where I first ate "tofu with strong odor", which is tofu deliberately infected with bacteria and left to rot, before being deep-fried. The ironic thing is that it's probably safer to eat than what you had, even though it smells literally like shit - the deliberately planted bacteria will presumably outcompete any harmful

I haven't eaten pork for a very long time. The suddenness of onset and the rapid recovery makes a strong case for the "tofu without strong odor" to be the cause. I was pleased that *even* in a developing country such as California that my email complaint was followed up that day, and an inspection of the restaurant was either that day or the next!
wow, I'm glad I didn't do that.ewdinhlpNovember 6 2008, 01:56:23 UTC
I was surprised to read your story. I'm glad you're O K. When I was in Galveston, one of the Indian Oncologists told me that in her opinion, the number one cause(maybe she said preventable?) of death was lack of proper refrigeration. Food poisoning is scary!! When I was 17 and living in West Hall at tech, I almost died from dehydration due to Herman"s Cafeteria(I still passed all my classes).

...three months later.
When I read this just two days ago, I was saddened that you'd had such a rotten experience and that I was only reading about it three months later. God bless the waste basket (and all waste baskets everywhere -- no exceptions) and I'm so very glad that the poisoning passed through your system quickly.
I checked the settings on my account and found that I had been added as friend to your page, but I hadn't checked the appropriate box for adding you to my page. I don't think I've been receiving your posts on my friends' page. But I am now.
