ok, since when did the term "fag hag" become an acceptable way for gay men to refer to their straight female friends?? All of a sudden, I'm hearing it everywhere, and it sounds like nails on chalkboard every time. Very offensive nails on a rude and tactless chalkboard. Ack.

I would actually say since the 1980s. So, Will and Grace are clear. Maybe they popularized it among new groups, but the way I've heard the term it's always some kind of badge of honor.
