At least your ex doesnt think you're horny regardless of what your emotional state is. Then again, maybe he does. I dont read minds, interpret dreams or know hypnosis despite of popular believes.
Here is my advice:
Dont feel bad because you may neglect your friends at the party because you are working, since you have no control over it.
Dont feel bad because you feel immature crying about your birthday, because it is NOT. You can work everyday, but how many 21st do you get in life?
Dont feel bad because your managers are assholes, since you have known that for a while now. This just nails it.
However, do feel bad about not being able to party with your friends, because you have been handed the shaft at no fault of your own. Whine, anguish, moan and bitch to everyone with this story at every chance and by the 10th time you hear ppl saying "Ow, thats fucked up" and yourself reciting the story, you will not feel as depressed about it as you first did. I usually quit after the 3rd time:)
Toki pretty much said it there. Your boss is an idiot. I'm not sure how cemented your day-off was, but they should have informed you that they were going to have you work before they changed the schedule behind your back. By them not telling you and then telling you to "not push it", they're just being sneaky and under-handed.
But let your friends know your situation. It sucks having planned all this and then all that crap happens, but it'll hurt a lot less if people understand what you're going through. Hopefully you won't come out like a whiner but still, what a silly and dumb situation your work is putting you through.
Still, you deserve a hug for putting up with all that. Is your address still valid? A b-day gift from SoCal shouldn't hurt either :P
