Magnesium?

The Home Health Nurse suggested topical magnesium to keep the scar tissue healthy after the wound finishes healing. Has anyone here used such a thing? (Yes, I will discuss with the MD and pharmacist, but friends count also.) I am seeing various ways to make it at home for WAY less than I would pay in the store, anyone have brand suggestions or

I haven't heard of it, but when I was healing from surgery the surgeon told me all those "creams" were bunk. He recommended massaging with plain old shea butter.
