After years of hearing rave reviews about it, I finally read Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell.

Oh, I totally agree with you! I loved this book, I loved the interactions between Norrell and Strange and the ending, and Childermass is my favourite character.

One of my favourite scenes of the book is the one between Childermass and the Raven King, when the Raven King says to Childermass that "only one of my servants is here".

Yes, that was a great scene. It was late at night when I read that part and I was a bit slow in realizing who the strange new character was. Perhaps that was the reason why I loved the "servant" quote so much -- it was a many-layered revelation to me :)
