Was it not bad enough that the word befriend has fallen out of use in favor of friending? Quirk341 is your mutual friend is not proper! Quirk341 and I can be mutual friends, and she is therefore my friend, but she is not my mutual friend. That's just not what mutual means, dammit ( Read more... )

You did! And I've read it! Now I just have to respond! Today!

They are indeed awesome. My real problem with Safari was that it doesn't support Gmail as much as other browsers do. It just seemed like time to update.

Mucho mutual mutuality.

We're better than friends. We're family. With ESP.

Wish I could share with you the sound of rain on my roof, pattering on the skylight as I drift to sleep. Hope you get to see this place before I leave it for Paris.

What does livejournal matter if you know who your friends really are?

Do you have a set date for Paris or is this still in the pipedream/planning phase? Cuz I want to see your apt. It's the one I saw with you last spring right? The one that was destined to be a great apartment?

Livejournal has no idea who my friends are-- and shouldn't presume that it does. Therefore, since it cannot truly gauge who my friends are and who are more distant acquaintances, etc. it should be compelled to, instead, play by the rules of the English language.

(Dude, such love.)

Paris is still very much in the planning stages, especially since I haven't gotten ahold of dad yet to really talk the thing out, but I'm expecting somewhere between fall 07 and fall 08 depending on how much work I finish here first.

I do live in the great apartment, although I carried my previous decorating style with me... the Paris plan will have me selling things off quickly though, so it'll probably look fantastic just in time to move out :) You should totally come visit again first!

I do agree that livejournal should give the option of differentiating between friends and acquaintances and that girl I sat next to in class that one day, but you know how butt-hurt people get when they think they're cooler than you think they are, so I can imagine the current system being a bit safer.

I still say family can be better than friends any day :) Love from me and the Bobby over my shoulder!

I'm totally planning on being in Eugene come fall 07. We'll see if this actually happens but that's where i want to do my next degree. If I do end up there I might just have to take that apartment from you when you leave. Could be beneficial to both of us... indeed.

Or something. I'm having planning problems right now. Don't even know where I'm living for the winter much less next fall. Who am I to say?

I say it's pretty damn good to have friends that are family. Oh, Bobby, I'm still planning on calling him back. It's only been a month....

lj = purdy

leather jacket = awesome

and yeah, I know how you feel. the best I can guess is it's because you're a u(c)er. it's amamzing that even here, people do some much less work that we did, but they (like us) have nothing else to compare it to. mostly I just giggle at them behind their backs - you should try that!

Thank you!

I'll have to get a picture of the jacket. I think it's coming to Florence with me. Depending on the weather outlook.

I just have to keep reminding myself that they are getting something very different out of their schooling. Like fun, and alcohol poisoning.

I miss our metals.

omigod, leather jackets are so cheap over there! here, unless there is a very good sale on, it'd be the equivalent of 150 dollars for the cheapest one. and those usually aren't the cute ones.

It was a good sale but it wasn't a "drop everything, mob rush to the leather store" kind of sale. Just their average kind of sale. I guess they are cheaper over here. Something ought to be. Seems like, what with hoof n mouth and mad cow there would have been an influx of leather onto the market. But that was a few years ago. And my geography could be off. Where's Tabby to explain these things to me?

hmm, i just saw the 'mutual friend' thing too. very odd. i mean, if you weren't my friend, why would you be on my friends page?

Yep. I mean, I get that they want to differentiate between one way friends and mutual friends in your user info, but they could at least respect the English language otherwise. I noticed it when I went to her page, my navigation bar announced to me that we are mutual friends. It could just as easily say "You are her friend" or "She is your friend," depending on the direction of your one way friendship and then say "You are friends" when you're mutual friends.

Grr. Shit like that bothers me.
