I haven't posted on here in a couple of years, but every once in a while I remind myself to do so.
Am fine; I can't recall if I did update my LJ or not, but:
1) have dude in my life, for the past 10 years (celebrated 10 this past weekend).
2) moved from old place to new-to-me house in August 2020. It's a nice place.
3) my Dad died in 2019, and my Mom moved in with Dude and me. She continues to live with us, still.
4) my sister & her family visited us this past July with everything that happens with a sister visit. All good.
Glad to see something from you, and your wee one! Glad you are doing well.

sorry i posted an update and then never came back to check the replies. nice to hear your update! sorry about your father. i’m preparing mentally but think we have time.. how is it having your mom live with you? preparing for that eventually too.

oh, no worries. Happens to all of us. I wander back over here from time to time. There's a community I follow here that keeps me somewhat frequent these days.
In terms of Dad - well, it was sudden (he died within 5 days of going to the hospital). You mentally prepare and try to make the space in your life; in my case, I was looking for a house with a granny suite for about 2 years prior to Dad's death, but the actuality of it happening changes everything. Long winded way to say that you'll never be prepared because it is so life-changing. :-) Ditto living with your remaining parent. I thought it would be OK - and for the most part, it is - but there are days when it is NOT ok and it is just like being a kid again. Luckily, I have the Dude in my life, and he makes the ups and downs with Mom better.
My sister has gotten better over the years, moreso since Mom moved in with the Dude and me. And that helps, too.
I'm getting close to the 50 mark, so looking forward to retiring soon-ish. The older I get, the more I want to enjoy life, ( ... )

what is livejournal anyway?! i've logged in periodically over the years peeking on the dying communities, and i haven't legit posted in longer than that. life is crazy and we're all old... married with two kids a house a cat and a dog now, shit's wild.
