They don't write poems about you, they don't write songs about you, until after you've broken their heart and then, only then, are you a mysterious beautiful vision, dark-haired, French-speaking, bird-wing-arms, whatever. When you were dating them you were the voice nagging at the door "Come ON" or "I'm NOT READY" "Go WITHOUT me" "Why do you ACT that way when you're DRUNK" you were dressed too sexy or you weren't dressed sexy enough, you were in sweatpants, you were busy.

So the whole point anyway was to be immortalized, that's why I break up with anyone at all, because then I am cast in amber and immortalized forever the way I wanted them to see me in the first place.
