Just got back from thrifting at Goodwill and buying some NES, SNES & N64 games at Gamerz Planet, since the PS3 is in limbo. I had just finished SoulBlazer on SNES, and got a hankering for more old school stuff. Next up: Dragon Warrior ( Read more... )

Yes, the Selectric was a bulky (20 lbs?) oval beast that came in black, industrial green, plastic tan or scrubs blue. Even though it was electric, it still required massive pinkie strength to depress and hold the shift key (although there was a Shift-Lock key). It used a ribbon, but instead of individual keys, it had a snap on ball that would rotate to the appropriate letter. It made writing a very visceral activity!

I used to have a REALLY old typewriter, the big black skeletal type you don't see anymore.

we are spoiled a bit by keyboards, you really had to POUND on some of those typewriter keys to make em work.

I had a typing class in school, WITH A ROOM FULL OF TYPEWRITERS, which shows how old I am...
