I went on a date a couple years ago to a county fair. I was pretty much there for the food, especially the fried dough. The animal stuff turns me off anymore though. One of my longest relationships was with a zoologist who taught me all the ways to recognize when an animal is distressed, and these small animal exhibits are full of it. There was a Christian Rock Pavilion at the fair I went to also. What the eff.

I'd still do rides if I wasn't such a cheapskate.

Fried cheese? That's like the skydiving of food.

The ice cream sounds absolutely fascinating, though.

The shaved meat gyro, you might mean a döner kebab?

Yep, that's it!

First time I saw one was in Straussburg France, at a Turkish pita joint. Unfortunately, at that time it looked delicious as hell but I was too full from breakfast to have any, which I regret to this day! The state fair one was the same: Delicious pita and all, but they slobbed on too much sauce.

There's a local Turkish joint which does döner kebabs on Sundays, I might have to check that out later.

That sounds wonderful. I went to a State Fair with the Massasschusets mob. It was rather fun. There, they had fried dough rather than cheese.

In the west, the local indian tribes usually serve "indian tacos," which are the ingredients of a taco served wrapped in fried dough. They are insanely good.

They're also big on frybread out here. In fact I'm headed to the AZ State Fair next weekend specifically to load up on frybread and then hate myself.
