Just thinking...

My best friend in high school actually compared me to Gambit more than once. Just thinking since that quiz result yesterday. I never have had a comic habit, but I've often wanted to be able to afford to start one. And it's hard to argue that X-Men isn't the place to start.

I'm a long-time X-Men fan, but I stopped reading the comics not long after the first movie came out, when they started changing things to suit the newbie fans who only new the movieverse, and when all the focus started moving to the Ultimates line. Blech. Last I heard, though, Gambit isn't in the books anymore.

And I forgot what I'd meant to add. *g* If you're looking for a good comic to get started with, the only one I read anymore is Wildguard, by Todd Nauck. Reality TV meets comic books! :) Only two issues are out so far, so it won't be hard to get caught up, but it looks like it'll be a great series. Todd's done work on comics like Young Justice in the past, but this is his baby.

What a shame. They do strange things with the story lines. Things intended to get you reading more than one series, which I think is annoying. I might look at compilations and graphic novels before I start looking to buy new comics.

The late 80s and early 90s are the best times to read X-Men, if you ask me. I'm also a big fan of the New Mutants, so early to mid 80s was good. I'd recommend the Mutant Massacre or X-Cutioner's Song tpbs as good places to start.
