Also, apparently ontogeny does not recapitulate phylogeny, at least according to Stephen Gould. But frankly, I don't know exactly what you or he means when saying that. Depending how which aspects of development you believe may be recapitulated (biological, sociological, or psychological), I may agree or disagree. But I also had to look up recapitulate to figure that out.
I feel incredibly uneducated and rather dumb also, at the length of time it took me to figure this out. I rather fear that I'm slowing down.
Ack, I didn't mean for you to have to look them up. It's a catch phrase that pops up in summaries of what existentialism means. I first looked them up when I was like 12 years old, and I STILL find the definitions pretty murky.
