Actually Keith is super supportive about pretty much anything. I occasionally consider telling him outlandish things like I want to be an astronaut just so I can watch as he plans out the steps it would take me to get there. I haven't heard about a weighted backpack, but I have heard about a vest type thing for dogs that wraps tight around them. Just like autistic kids, some dogs apparently get calmer by feeling pressure on them. Maybe your dog is autistic and this will help?

Here's hoping that it works and doesn't just make your dog stronger!

I'm not completely sure if a dog knows that carrying a backpack gives it "purpose", but I agree, if it decreases your dog's energy with no harm to the dog, then it can't hurt to try.
the Thundershirt sounds interesting as well. I'm even more amused that there's a version for cats as well!

I remember when we first got Mindy--- she was terrible. It is nearly impossible to train a Maltese/Yorkshire hybrid to do anything. Harder still when the three people around her are so inconsistent. I've had to take over most of her feeding. Why? Because she usually eats immediately after food is put in her dish. And has to go out about 3-6 hours later. It took me over a year to (mostly) house train her. And who does most of her walking? Me, the unemployed guy ( ... )
