Malawi wouldn't be the only country angry, nor would is just be the Muslims in those countries. A lot of tribes in East Africa are polygamous, including the Masaai.

It isn't just that the women are unmarried for a lot of these tribes either. They tell the girls that they'll become prostitutes if they aren't circumcised before marriage, even though female circumcision is now illegal in Tanzania (speaking specifically about interactions with the Masaai and the Hadzabe tribes).

My favorite bit about the arguments against the anti-polygamy law: "Every woman has the right to be under the shelter of a man."
