Here are my 2009 lists. I haven't had time to re-post my 2000s lists for countblastula's benefit, even though he has already seen them and in fact had to supply me with several... anyway, I'll do that this week.

I just watched Up! the other night and loved it. "Do not speak to me of Doug at this time."

I'm very glad to hear that you liked the movie version of "The Time Traveler’s Wife." I'm always afraid to see the movie version of books I really loved, so I haven't seen it yet. Now I will give it a chance. Also, "Her Fearful Symmetry" is in my (towering) to-be-read pile.

Yeah, I thought it was basically fine, and Scott did too (he also loved the book). It wasn't GREAT, but it's not really the movie's fault. It's such a long, event-filled book that to fit all that into 2 hours it kind of gives it a "best-of scenes from the book" feel, and I imagine people who hadn't read it might be slightly confused. But there are no horrible changes or anything. It just doesn't quite have the time to build the emotional impact from the book (again, I imagine if you've read it you will get more out of it). I thought the two leads were great though, which definitely helps it.

hehe, also, my favorite line from "Up" is "I have been hiding under the porch because I love you." I loved how they captured the personalities of doggies.

Up has many great doggy lines...

"His fool's errand will keep him most occupied. Most occupied, indeed. *laughs* Do you not agree with that which I am saying to you now?"

"Scream all you want small mailman...none of your mailman friends can hear you!"

"Find the scent, my compadres, and you too shall have much rewardings from Master for the toil factor you wage."

Tell me more about 'Tinted Windows'. I've never heard of them, but they must be worth checking out if they're one of your top five of the year.

May you and Scott be very happy together in 2010. Also, I think you should visit the UK and introduce Leeds to the joy of the Corner Laughers. I have quite a few mates who put on bands, and happy indie pop fun is right up their street.

Oh, I don't know about that - I like plenty of crap! :) They're sort of a power pop supergroup of: Adam Schlesinger from Fountains of Wayne; James Iha; the drummer from Cheap Trick; and .. Taylor Hanson. It's not the greatest album I ever heard or anything, but a lot of the songs are quite catchy.

We actually talked about going to England next summer to play a uke festival Karla found out about (I think that's what it was, at least) and I really wanted to do it, but with both Charlie and I getting married a month later the timing wasn't going to work. I do really hope we can go there sometime! If not as a band, I am definitely going to go with Scott sometime because he's never been.

Hey, catchy is good. I'll check them out.

When are you getting married? I may be in the US myself around that time.
