For the record

Rode to the track (approx 30 mins)
Warmed up for a few miles.
3x1 mile @10k pace, 200m recovery between each (haven't run fast in a while)
Splits:
6:14
6:00
5:44
Then an hour hard riding afterward.

Still a long way from where I was in late 2002 and early 2003.

Looks good to me, but then I don't know where you were! And I'm slow!
I can do one mile in the 6 range, but get progressively slower after each one. I can't even imaging a 10K paced at 6! I wish!

There is no honor in being better than anyone else, only in being better than your former self.

When I can do it 30 seconds/mile faster at the same level of effort then I will be fit, but I may sign up for Ironman Arizona and so won't be going faster than 7:00 for a long time.

Sometimes the former self is unattainable ;)
I would love to be my teenage self again. Just before I quit gym. 6% body fat, 10 pull-ups in 10 seconds, able to train 4 hours a day and never be tired....
It can't happen. I'm old. My body is proportioned different now. I will never have that strength to mass ratio I had back then. It kind of makes me sad.

IM Arizona? Is there still slots open?

Community Fund slots - extra $560 donation, so $1000 total.
