Awesome dream last night, mainly because it was set in a sub-sub-genre of science fiction that I love... the quiet apocalypse. You know, those stories where everyone knows the world is ending, and can see it coming, but it's not quite here yet? Most recently, Seeking a Friend for the End of the World (which I haven't seen yet) is in that vein. Also

Seriously do watch Seeking a Friend, I love the way that it does exactly what you describe - just takes into account how different people act to face a very definite end. It is one of those nice psychological science fiction stories that focuses entirely on the human dynamic. It was similar in that way to The Man from Earth, which also did not have giant death-ray spewing super robots (sorry, spoiler).
