Iron Man 3 squee-post!
Well, what can I say? I loved it from beginning to end.
We got actual character development and actual continuity! Really, this movie took all my issues about IM2 and fixed them. Just such a little detail that when Pepper calls Tony on his bullshit, he actually tells her that he's having a rough time instead of self-destructing in silence. Plus the fact that he acknowledges that he's a difficult person to live with. And everything that happened in Avengers had real consequenses!
My favourite part of it all is actually a kind of echo from Avengers. 'Big man in a suit of armour. Take that away and what are you?' Genius billionaire playboy philantropist indeed! Not to forget completely and utterly badass. It was really good to see Tony prove to himself and the rest of the world, that Iron Man isn't just the armour, but the man inside it.
I also adore Pepper and it was nice to see her get some action scenes of her own. Of all the Marvel movieverse women, Pepper is my all time favourite! Not to mention the bit after the credits with Tony and Bruce. Really, all I want from Avengers 2 is for Tony and Bruce to be science BFF's and for Coulson to be alive.
Yes, I have a few minor squabbles. Just like Tony lampshaded, the ending was a little too neat. The fake Mandarin was a little over the top. I still hate watching movies in 3D. But all in all, I have very few complaints.
