I thoroughly enjoyed it too--though I am reserving judgement for a bit longer. The throwaway lines are to die for ("You've never seen his arms.")but I'm not sold on the cocky computer hacker girl just yet. Nice "we're not a team-yet" moments though--and I loved how Simmons got all excited when her goo blob dripped. :-)
I need some SHIELD icons. And no, I'm not going to put in the periods every time. :D
I'm with you on hacker girl, and I'm entirely indifferent in regards to the cardboard-cutout-notateamplayer-hero-type-guy. (but I liked the interrogation scene). Plus, I'm a little disappointed that the Avengers aren't cleared to know Coulson's alive, because that breaks up my OT3 *pouts*
I think the cardboard guy is going to serve as the perfect foil. In a way, he's going to be 'us' reacting to what's going on around him, but in not in the 'way cool!' hacker chick way. More like, "this is not supposed to be happening!" We've already learned he's got a softer side and he justifies to himself what he does. At the moment, my biggest objection is the hacker girl, and I hope she won't be the focus of the show.
I found it hard to believe that the Avengers aren't cleared to know that Coulson is alive, on the other hand, I could see Tony and Steve both getting pissed about being manipulated that way. I'm guessing sooner or later in that universe, they will have to find out. ;-)
I loved the little hints at stuff we don't know, like the backstory on the pilot and what really happened to Coulson. But most of all, I just love having an ensemble team show that I can get excited about watching again!!
Maybe they'll find out in Avengers 2? For meta-reasons, I doubt they'll find out in-show, it's pretty unlikely that they'll get RDJ and Chris Evans to star in a TV-show.(though an Avengers guest appearence would be aweseome, a girl can hope...)
Also, I bet cardboard guy and hacker girl will be the designated UST-couple.
