Just for the record, I hate that "privilege" meme. I think there are several items on it that say nothing at all about whether or not the person taking the survey was privileged as a child but say a lot about the class snobbishness and condescension of the people who created it.

Hope you don't mind me posting in this months later.

I remember seeing the meme, and although the way it was titled and some of the questions bothered me, it actually did strike me as not even necessarily being about class only, but experience. You don't necessarily have to be middle or upper class to go to a museum - something a few people on my flist never went to as kids, people who definitely had the money.

My parents took me to museums, even when they bored me (and some did, even though normally I was geeky and loved them), they read to me, and they were very honest with me about life. number of my friends have never even been to a museum, weren't read to, and learned about life on the playground and in the cafeteria.

There are also plenty of things people saw as kids that I never did.

I think that overall, the meme should be better titled and some of the questions changed. Because in terms of experience, it IS very interesting. But when you bring class into it, that's when it gets annoying.

Experience is advantageous, yes, but advantages don't always translate into privilege. The meme could've been a lot better worded, definitely.
