I feel like I'm sending a message in a bottle. Is there anyone out there who's still reading this?
I've made a new space for sharing my writing on the web at
A Glimpse in the Glass. I post about once a week, mostly thoughts on my evolving faith, big philosophical questions, et cetera. I'd be honored to reconnect with Livejournal friends over there

I got your Christmas card and have been meaning to write to you ever since. I had already seen the first couple of entries at your blog (back when I was still occasionally checking FB), but I've been so busy lately that I never seem to have time for serious discussions online anymore. (Alas!) I'm really hoping this will change in the near future, and would love to get back to talking with you. (Incidentally, I've been reading St. Augustine's Confessions recently, and of course I was reminded of you. You've read Augustine, I suppose? I'm really enjoying him. A lot more than I was expecting to.)
I miss seeing you here!

I'm so glad you want to keep in touch! It felt rather lame to send you a Christmas card when I didn't talk to you all year, but I still think of you occasionally and remember our past discussions with fondness. I do hope you have more time for deep internet thoughts soon.
I haven't actually read Confessions, but wanting to talk about it with you is an excellent excuse to finally do it. Also I'm very excited you're applying to graduate school (I am too) and that you took some Ancient Greek!

I'd definitely recommend Augustine to you, of all people. (I'd particularly recommend Henry Chadwick's translation. I looked at a bunch of different ones before picking that one; it's very good and has useful footnotes, and gives the chapter and verse for all of Augustine's biblical quotations, which some translations don't do.) Really, I think if someone were to ask me what Christian faith should look like, I would point to the Confessions. And Augustine is an excellent writer, too.
I just added your journal to my LJ friends page as an RSS feed. Hope that's okay! (Of course I'll go to the journal itself to leave comments. I just never remember to regularly check any website other than LJ...)

Having you as a reader will be lovely! I totally understand about having only one page that you check. I only wish there was a way to get your LJ in a feed for me... I mean, there probably is, I'm just not very savvy about these things...
