I REALLY REALLY want to hate Firefly. But now that I've watched an episode, I can't. I'll probably have to watch the whole thing. I'll probably have to like it a lot.

I don't think I've been a fanboy of anything in quite a while. Though that hazy cloud of whatever-the-hell-happened around the year of us and Neon Genesis Evangelion probably blurs over some form of fanfic.

Just wait until you discover that Firefly fandom, involving as it does appreciation for deeply layered, thoughtful writing, includes some pretty deeply layered and thoughtful people. (skzbrust has actually written a Firefly novel, by the way. Worth checking out.)

Most people are deeply-layered and thoughtful. I've never encountered a "shallow" person that didn't have some pretty thoughtful reasons for acting that way. :)
