Learning Sign Language?

I've been thinking a bit lately as I've been filling out my resume for internships. Skills like speaking a second language are really prized in my field, and they're kinda neat to have in the noggin regardless. Jessie D has some background. So does my pal Katie. I think she majored in it, but now has arthritic hands at twenty-something and had to switch majors. I can help you find her on Facebook if you want to ask her about it.

Just be ready for a bit of Deaf (capital D indicates the Deaf culture/community/whatever) snobbery. They tend to be kind of exclusive and dismissive of 2nd-language ASL learners in my experience.

It's a cool language, but pretty tough to learn for someone with no exposure to it. If you've got a knack for languages, give it a shot.
