[Cloud had managed to walk all the way from the Bazaar to Wellspring and had almost made it to the Clinic, but when he was just within sight of the building the slight dizziness he had been experiencing suddenly increased, and he was forced to sit down before he collapsed. He leaned back against a convenient tree and waited for the dizziness to pass... he didn't think anyone in the Clinic could see him from this distance, he would have to walk there on his own.
As soon as his head stopped pounding quite so badly.]
[Pollux had thrown his journal onto his futon and was sprinting towards Wellspring (he was glad, for the first time, that Castor had dislocated his shoulder. He was now familiar with how to get to the Clinic, had it not happened he would have surely spent far too much time trying to find it). He fully intended to run the entire way there, his lungs were starting to burn from the effort, though as he rounded towards a patch of trees, something caught his eye.
It was amazing he even picked Cloud out amongst the shadows surrounding the trees, though it was the hair that gave him away (Pollux was sure the same would have been true for himself - in a tangential train of thought, it was a wonder the two weren't really related.) He slowed his pace to check on his brother, it was hard to tell if he was simply relaxing, or if it was something more dire.]
Cloud. Cloud, are you alright? You weren't in the Bazaar were you?
[Cloud looked up, a little slowly, as Pollux called his name. It was relatively clear he had been in the Bazaar as he had several bloody spatters decorating his clothing, and even a few spots where his white hair was tinged pink. He took a breath, wincing slightly as it pulled at his ribs.]
Yeah. [That was in answer to your second question, btw. Cloud paused slightly before he continued.] ...think I hit my head. [He considered those words for a second or two, then added,] Ribs hurt, too.
[Pollux just blinked. This feeling of helplessness was far too familiar, but he didn't know why. He needed to help him. He knew that Cloud wasn't really his brother, and that there was really no way they could be, he still felt responsible or him. Even if it seemed Cloud was more than capable of taking are of himself, and that he seemed to like it on his own.
He sank to his knees next to Cloud, uncertain what to do with his hands, if he should touch him, help him upright, anything. He had no idea what to do. He was panicked.]
[Cloud blinked at Pollux's question. Did he need help...? Good question.
He brought one hand up, pressing the back of it against his forehead. He wasn't thinking very clearly just now, a combination of being in pain and the aforementioned blow to the head... but he slowly concluded that yes, help would be nice.
Pollux seemed to be waiting for him to ask for it, though...]
Oh god man, sorry this was so slow, work's been killing me.ziongaivJune 7 2010, 04:30:23 UTC
Shit.
[He, quite honestly had no idea what to do, other than panic. Which is was currently working on. He wasn't even sure what had happened down at the Bazaar other than a lot of people had been hurt, which was more than enough reason for him to be concerned. But now Cloud had been hurt. This was an issue.]
Your head, right?
[He reached out to touch him, it was awkward and tentative, but as he did he felt this vibrating running down his arms to his hands, and the closer he got to Cloud, the harder it vibrated. His hands felt numb from the shaking and he didn't know what it was. He pulled his hands quickly away from Cloud, looking down at them as though they were covered in blood, in sheer horror. What on earth was that.
He reached for Cloud again. And again. The vibrations.]
[Cloud still had his hand pressed against his forehead, so he didn't notice Pollux reaching for him... but he definitely noticed when his headache started to fade. He straightened out of his slouch against the tree abruptly--a move that made his ribs protest with painful sharpness. He bit back a groan, winced, and looked at Pollux. His brother was staring at his hands with horror.]
Pollux...? What-- [He stopped as Pollux reached toward him, and the headache faded even more.] ...what are you doing?
[He swallowed hard, reaching out again, the numbness creeping into his fingertips again. It was uncomfortable simply because it was unfamiliar, but if Cloud said he was feeling better, he was going to do - whatever it was - again. It was draining, he certainly could feel a sense of exhaustion coming over him as he put his hand on top of Cloud's that had been resting on his head.]
You're going to be okay. You shouldn't stay outside like this.
[He pulled his hands away, crouching in the grass, giving Cloud a good look over. Maybe there was something he had missed, maybe something else he could do.]
Stay with me and Castor, you can have my futon. At least until you're better.
[Cloud didn't say anything when Pollux touched his hand. It was a strange feeling, being looked after, cared for, and obviously cared about like this... it wasn't right, somehow, in the same way that having a brother was strange. It just didn't fit. He wondered if he should be sad about that, finding it odd that someone cared about him.]
...I could go to the Clinic. Was already on my way there, anyway. [The protest was half-hearted at best.
Most of Cloud's pain was gone, thanks to whatever the hell Pollux had done, but he wasn't fully healed, and he suddenly felt very tired. The thought that the head injury could be the cause of that worried Cloud a little... it should probably worry him more. Hmm.
Cloud got to his feet slowly, wincing. Definitely not healed... his ribs were protesting every move he made, just about. But being in less pain helped a lot.] ...you alright? After... [He made a vague gesture toward his head, leaning against the tree for support with his other hand. Just in case, though he wasn't feeling dizzy anymore.]
[It was odd that they could be so opposite and be considered brothers. Pollux instinctively worried for Cloud, he knew Cloud was content in his hermit like ways, and that he did what he pleased because that was what he wanted. But Pollux worried. Perhaps because Cloud was somewhat unconventional that Pollux just never knew what to expect from him, but it felt like it was something else. It was this nagging feeling that he had to save Cloud. Even if he put him at ease, it was clear he couldn't make wounds go away, but if he could make him comfortable, at least. At least until he was better. There was some feeling of closure he didn't understand.]
Would you rather? I'd understand, its just, if you need a place to stay other wise. I'd just- [He paused, offering Cloud a shoulder to lean on] I'd just feel better if I knew where you were. I know you won't stay at the Clinic long.
[He made a gesture of unimportance, shrugging off Cloud's question. He certainly felt drained, it seemed there was only so long he could keep this up. It was not

[Cloud curled his free hand in front of his mouth absently, still leaning against the tree with the other. He didn't exactly have a problem with the Clinic, but Pollux was right--he would probably leave as soon as he got the chance. At the same time, however, he would need a place to stay until his ribs healed; he really didn't want to try sleeping outside right now.
Maybe it wasn't such a bad idea. And Pollux did seem pretty worried about him.]
I... [Cloud sighed, winced, and tucked both hands into his pants pockets. If he noticed Pollux offering him his shoulder to lean on he made no sign of it; but even if he had, he wouldn't have taken it. He can walk just fine for now, if a little slowly because of his ribs.] ...I'm tired
