Memory 脳 Two

It was inconspicuous enough. He simply went to slide his hand into the gloves he had just purchased, when his fingers jammed uncomfortably against the hidden crystal inside, it was a smooth fade to black into his mind, before jolting awake with a start - he was on his back staring up at a dark ceiling - unlike the memory before this, the walls were stationary, nothing was green and swimming. It was simply dark.

He was uncomfortable, the air felt thick and it burned as he breathed in. He felt his lungs heave as he coughed into the dark, but like before, there was no sound. The pain in his chest was immense as he coughed, choking on the hot dusty air in the room and as he doubled over trying to catch his breath, it was only then he realized how small he was. His feet didn't reach the ground, white socked feet standing out starkly against the dark carpet, and very suddenly, he had to go somewhere else. There was no question, he could feel his feet hit the ground beneath him as he strode towards the door on the other side of the room. A tiny hand reached forward for the door, those fingers wrapped around the handle before pulling away, red angry welts raising in his palm. The door was hot. The hallway beyond was hot, and the angry burning air was seeping into that room from all sides of the door.

With a shuddering breath he pushed himself into the door, pushing it open into the sweltering heat beyond. There were other people, children, leaving their rooms, headed towards one end of the hallway and disappearing down the stairs into the cloud of black smoke. The other end of the hallway was engulfed in flames, he couldn't move, he simply stared into the fire as it consumed the hall, turning everything in its wake into black ashes. He tore his eyes away from the blaze, pushing his way through children bumping into him, headed towards the stairs. He was fighting the current of panic and chaos as he tried to reach the fire at the end of the hall. In a moment of strength he didn't think his small frame was capable of, he shoved his shoulder into a door to his right, just at the edge of the flames.

All he saw, was a scared white face, ashes and tears streaking their face, blue eyes staring back at him as the tiny white hand reached out from between the bars of the crumbling crib towards him. And as he stepped over the wreckage in the room, he felt a pressure around his middle, and he was being pulled away from the face, the face he needed more than anything in the world to reach. He would throw himself into the fire if it meant he could reach that face reaching out for him. But as he looked up he saw someone, someone much bigger than him, and surely much older, holding him around the middle tearing down the hallway with him tucked under their arm. He could feel himself screaming, but no words came out, as he kicked and punched at the arm holding him down, tearing him away from that face in the dark. The last he saw of that face was the outline of her tiny body, in silhouette as flames shot up the curtains behind her, a tiny hand reaching out before the door closed behind him, and he disappeared into the smoke.

[ooc: The death of Akihiko's sister is only spoken of in the game, but it is established that he tried to save her, but was prevented from doing so. Akihiko's punishment is green hair for 3 days.]
