I'm really sorry about the job; it sounded like it had potential, and it's always rough when something like that falls through. And not even getting a proper phone call is annoying, especially after they spent so much time interviewing you and trying you out.
My two cents would be to keep looking in the SLO area while you wait to hear back from your old work; just in case something else pops up. Either way, best of luck.
Recipe mixes in jars that only require the person to add in a few wet staple ingredients like milk or eggs/etc are really nice...I think anyone would be happy to get some basic ones for a good homemade soup or chocolate chip cookies or even bread.
And of course, some crafts that LOOK really fancy and expensive are actually the work of five minutes, with two or three dollars spent...like those fancy hurricane candle holders.
*hug* Sorry about the job. :-( But, you know, take what he said at face value. It makes sense, because a lot of places find it's less costly to restructure, promote from inside, & get entry level (inexpensive) people to backfill. You deserve better than entry level, so there you go.
I wouldn't be so o_O about it if it weren't for the kinds of people who actually do that in that game. Generally, they're the type to have an actual, problematic addiction to it.Plus they're the ones who tend to take the game way too seriously and throw a conniption fit when someone doesn't do things their way. Ergo, scary people. :P
I've never really met anyone like that. XD I want to have a bit of everything I like. If I could split myself into 5 parts with 1 playing one game, another playing another game, another studying webdesign codes, another writing stories and another drawing pixels, I totally would! Other than that I just alternate what I do. I think I would be fascinated by someone so "dedicated" I know I'm weird :P I just find it so "out there" that it would probably be interesting. I might be like *.* you're so cool

I'm taking those 2 cents to heart and looking around. Bah. Being an adult sucks.

You can always make gifts. Food gifts, craft gifts...there are lots of really inexpensive options where the biggest cost is time.

THat site often has several ideas under one idea. Like the 'gifts in a jar' one has about fifty ideas all by itself.

I think it's awesome that they're taking a game holiday :D Besides, why else would anyone take a day off other than to have fun? XD
