My amazingly cute and cuddly girlfriend often tells me that I'm the best hermit ever (not meaning that I'm the best in the world at being a hermit, but rather, as hermits go... not that I think she knows all that many, I am the better human being). Thanks for that excellent, thought-provoking post!
I've often thought about an aspect of being nice to others, and how it seems to be disappearing: common courtesy in your speech. Like saying "thank you" and "excuse me" and "please." I've actually gotten looked at funny because I say these things unfailingly, almost without thinking. I hate the idea that rudeness is becoming more of a norm, and the idea that people who do nice things are looked down upon. I'm not a perfect person, but I try, and I would hope others do too.

eating processed foods transported halfway across the world and/or eating foods made from transgenic crops impeding on the livelihoods of those in third world countries can also be considered murder...good for you for recycling and carpooling...i think it's time for society to start taking care of their bodies and consuming everything in a conscious way...develop awesome eating habits so we can change the world.

And you know why? because you are. not because you try, not because you tell everyone you are, not even if you ran around looking for burning cars to pull people out of, you're sweet and wonderful just being you.
