I've often thought about an aspect of being nice to others, and how it seems to be disappearing: common courtesy in your speech. Like saying "thank you" and "excuse me" and "please." I've actually gotten looked at funny because I say these things unfailingly, almost without thinking. I hate the idea that rudeness is becoming more of a norm, and the idea that people who do nice things are looked down upon. I'm not a perfect person, but I try, and I would hope others do too.

You know damn well you're the sweetest and most wonderful hermit in the whole world. :)
And you know why? because you are. not because you try, not because you tell everyone you are, not even if you ran around looking for burning cars to pull people out of, you're sweet and wonderful just being you.
You're wonderfully empathic, sensitive, thoughtful, gracious, helpful, and a wonderful listener. Not because you try to be, you just are.
